Every year, the European Parliament runs a campaign on gender equality in order to raise awareness of its role in promoting this value. It is part of the yearly values campaign. The key moment of the campaign is 8 March, International Women’s Day. Every year around this date, various events are held by Parliament in Brussels and in the Member States via the Parliament’s Information Offices in order to inspire women and celebrate their achievements. Parliament’s Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) chooses a specific theme each year.
As the world changes, we must change too. Now more than ever, we want to be sure public money is used wisely, adds value and supports those in the greatest need. An open, democratic debate is the best way to make sure European funds are effectively targeted. The European Parliament is the place where this debate takes place and where decisions that matter to Europe’s citizens today are made.
ECONOMY. LET’S GET BACK TO BUSINESS.
The European Parliament’s mission is to protect and support each and every one of its citizens, both in times of prosperity and in the face of a challenge. Today, with the crisis as our backdrop, clear plans, strong measures and a firm hand are more crucial than ever. As we emerge from these difficult times, many important decisions as to where our economy is headed are still to be made. The European Parliament will make sure that we all get a say.
